The Druidess is an art print of an original painting of the artist Odilon Redon, 1893. The painting is a portrait of a Druidess. They took their name from the sacred tree of the Celts the Oak (Oak), they were priests, philosophers, they legislated but also administered justice. Irish Irish mythology has a number of female druids, often sharing similar prominent cultural and religious roles with their male counterparts.
Redon went to Paris at the age of 30, where he worked for the next 20 years producing black and white drawings and lithographs. In these works, Redon developed a highly distinctive repertoire of strange subjects that included amoeba-like creatures, and insects and plants with human heads.
